By Sue Jensen, Days of Service
During TVLC’s ninth annual Days of Service celebration on October 23 and 24, TVLC members and friends responded with their usual enthusiasm and generosity to the opportunities presented to follow Jesus and share love with their community.
The paper shredding, electronics recycling and food donation event brought approximately 600 vehicles to our parking lot.
Our food ministry gratefully received donations of 2300 pounds of canned food plus $1150.
Partnering with AARP, we shredded 97 big barrels of paper.
We collected two truckloads of electronics for recycling.
We wrapped 75 sets of new queen-sized sheets as Christmas gifts for clients of Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest.
Our Sunday School children assembled 100 Kindness Kits that are available for distribution to homeless persons you might encounter.
And, 80 bag lunches were packed for workers living at a local Primavera shelter.
Many thanks to all who supplied materials and who volunteered to work on these projects. Special thanks are due to AARP for sponsoring the shredding trucks and to Thrivent Financial for providing Action Team funds for our projects.
How wonderful to witness “Follow Jesus, Share Love” in action!
