TVLC is filled with remarkable people. Because of the number and size of our services, we often miss out on meeting folks or having the opportunity to get to know them. Today we’ll meet the Jones family. Soile and Bob have one son, Erik, and a daughter-in-law, Diana. Erik and Diana live in Tucson where Erik is a firefighter. Erik and Diana are parents to Zane (25) and Cade (21). Zane lives in Washington and works in forestry. Cade just graduated from Pima Community College.

About you?
Soile was born and raised in Finland. Her name is pronounced soy-LEI and means “glow from the Northern Lights.” Soile met Bob in Evreux, France, where he was in the U.S. Air Force. They wed in France in 1960 and have celebrated 60 years together!

Soile and Bob came to Tucson in 1967, then lived in the bay area, and moved back to Tucson in 1974. They joined TVLC in 1975 with Pastor Robert Linder officiating.

Soile and Bob are retired. Soile worked as a bank officer in lending for over 20 years. Bob had a varied career with a large company, as an owner of an office equipment sales and service business, and spent the final 10 years as a Chief Deputy County Recorder for Pima County.

Hobbies?
Soile enjoys gardening and keeping her backyard flowers blooming. She is on the board of the Arizona Opera League of Tucson and is a member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). P.E.O. is an association of women that celebrates the advancement of women through scholarships, grants, and loans.

Bob enjoys reading a variety of topics. He loved hunting and fishing and golf for many years. One of his favorite memories was fishing in Costa Rica with friends. Bob also enjoyed playing golf with Pastor Linder and other church members. Bob served on the TVLC Church Council.

Soile and Bob have a Shih Tzu, Nalle (means teddy bear in Finnish), who likes to take them on morning walks!

Favorite TVLC memory?
Soile and Bob love TVLC and what it stands for in the community!
