TVLC is filled with remarkable people. Because of the number and size of our services, we often miss out on meeting someone or having the opportunity to get to know them. Today we’ll meet the Davidsons. Catherine and John Davidson have two children, J.D. (9) and Grace (5).
About you?
John, J.D., and Grace are natives of Tucson. Catherine was born in Ohio and moved to Tucson when she was 2. Catherine and John are graduates of the University of Arizona with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Catherine is a music teacher and teaches Band, Orchestra, and Guitar at Mansfeld Magnet Middle School in TUSD. John teaches science at Gridley Middle School in TUSD.
Catherine’s and John’s passion for teaching and caring for children brought them together when they met while working at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church’s daycare.
Hobbies?
The family describes themselves as “geeks together!” They love Marvel, D.C., Star Wars, Harry Potter, Legos, Disney, and Pokémon. Catherine is currently binge-watching all the television shows she didn’t have time to see before the pandemic. John loves to play computer video games and keeps up on all things baseball. J.D. is into Legos and plays Minecraft. Grace loves to sing anywhere, anytime, anything and makes up some of her songs. She also loves Barbie and playing Pokémon TCG.
Pets?
The Davidsons love animals. They have a Beagle/Terrier mix named Johnson and a Corgidor (half Corgi/half lab) name Rosie. Johnson is known for her cough and elderly demeanor while Rosie is affectionately known as a “lowrider” because she looks like a short lab. They also have a cat named Lucy who helps parent J.D. and Grace by comforting, grooming, and putting them to bed.
Favorite TVLC memories?
Catherine and John fondly recall the baptism of J.D. and Grace by Pastor Gayle Bintliff. They wanted to raise their children in the faith as followers of Jesus. The sacrament where the children were marked by the cross and sealed by the Spirit was especially meaningful to Catherine and John.
John also was grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Pastor Stephen’s Call Committee. Catherine cherishes working with the Children’s Christmas Gift Ministry each year.
