By Vickie Denning, Communications Director

TVLC is filled with remarkable people. Because of the number and size of our services, we often miss out on meeting folks or having the opportunity to get to know them. Today we’ll meet Judy Hedding.

About you?
Judy grew up in Minneapolis, the oldest of 7 children. She went to Central High School.

Following graduation, Judy went to work in sales for Sears. She did not find that job to be her cup of tea and went to work as an inventory clerk for a water well company.

Later Judy went to work as a cashier in a brokerage firm and earned her brokerage license. Her career as a broker was spent representing institutional clients.

Judy and Al were wed on New Year’s Day in 1983. Al said he would be able to remember their anniversary if it were on the first of January! Al had two boys and Judy now has 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Judy retired in 1994 and she and Al became snowbirds in 1997, escaping Minnesota winters and living in an apartment at Tanque Verde and Catalina Highway. Later they rented a casita adjacent to the TVLC campus and could listen to the sunrise service from the comfort of their own home. Judy and Al bought a home in Civano in 2003 and Al retired in 2005.

Al died in 2015 and Judy became a year-round Tucson resident the same year.

Hobbies?
Judy leads an active life. She and Al enjoyed snow skiing and sailing. Judy enjoys reading and quilting. She also volunteers in the TVLC library one morning each week. You might also see Judy when she volunteers in the church office. Judy claims to have no hidden talents!

Favorite TVLC memories?
Judy’s favorite memories from TVLC include trips led by a former member to La Paz, Mexico and led by (former) Pastor Tuohino to Holden Village in Washington. She enjoys time with the Prime Timers, singing in the church choir and spending time with the Tightwad Tuesday group.

Judy “appreciate(s) the church and the message it shares.”

Have you enjoyed getting to know Judy a little bit better? Can I   share your story? I’d love to hear from you! Contact VickieDenning@tvlc.org
