TVLC is filled with remarkable people. Because of the number and size of our services, we often miss out on meeting folks or having the opportunity to get to know them. Today we’ll meet Janis Hedin-Mulvihill & William Mulvihill.

About you?
Janis is a native Tucsonan. She graduated Sabino High School and earned a Bachelor’s in Music studying Classical Voice at the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music. Will and his family lived in Europe for a number of years before moving to the States. The experiences gave Will a great appreciation for other cultures, people and food. Will graduated Cactus Shadows High School in Cave Creek, AZ, and has pursued his interest in business.

Janis grew up in TVLC. She went to Sunday School, Confirmation, Youth Retreats, Bible Camps and has served as an acolyte, reader, usher, soloist, choir member and bell choir member. She has fond memories of packing food for Christmas and Easter food deliveries with her family.

Janis is now a music teacher in the Sahuarita Unified School District and Will works as a business consultant.

How did you meet?
Janis and Will met almost 8 years ago when Will took her order in his family’s coffee shop. Janis shares that the coffee was “just so good” that she kept going back and back and back and Will kept taking her order! They visited even after the shop closed, enjoying getting to know each other, playing cards and laughing. Once they stayed in the shop for so long that Will’s stepmother arrived at 5am to open the shop, so they acted like they had just arrived and started the morning opening routine!

Hobbies?
Janis and Will enjoy the outdoors, sing karaoke and play the piano. They enjoy making up songs together.

Hidden talents?
Will is a fabulous pianist! He plays and composes classical sonatas on a piano obtained for him as a child. Will promised his parents he would play “every day” and he has kept his promise. Because Janis has shared her beautiful voice with our church it isn’t a hidden talent, but you may not know that Janis has sung in classical operas and at Carnegie Hall.

Pets?
Janis and Will have 2 cats, Franklin and Eleanor, and 9 chickens. They love caring for their animals and their wish list includes getting more.

Favorite TVLC memories?
A favorite memory of Will and Janis is being married at TVLC over 2 years ago. Janis says: “Having gone to TVLC since I was five years old, TVLC has always been my home, my sanctuary. It was the honor of my life to come before TVLC and God and be sealed to my partner in life in such a special place.”

Janis and Will believe that faith is an integral part of their lives. They acknowledge joys and losses that they have shared, but they are there for each other as God loves and is there for them. Faith brings them peace, understanding, wisdom, vision and love. Will expresses their day-to-day outlook as life partners: “Look for the perfect moment in each day. If it hasn’t happened yet, make it.”
