Talking turkey already?? Yes! Our traditional Holiday Food Baskets will be distributed for Thanksgiving and Christmas, thankfully serving 85 families at each holiday. Our traditional goal is to provide each family with a bountiful holiday meal and extra days of groceries. Please join us as we begin our Holiday Food Basket Drive.
All nonperishable food donations for BOTH HOLIDAYS will be collected at the SAME TIME! Donation deadline goal is Sunday, November 14.
Please help us supply these food items.
- Nonperishables: canned meats, dried rice and beans, peanut butter, jelly, mac & cheese, tomato products, canned beans, soups, hot and cold cereals, pasta and pasta sauce, canned vegetables and fruit, canned prepared meals (chili, stew, Spaghettios, etc.)
- Holiday Meal Fixin’s: Instant mashed potatoes, boxed stuffing mix, packets of gravy mix, cranberry sauce.
- Holiday Meats: Each food basket will include a turkey, a ham, or 2 chickens. We will be collecting food for 85 baskets for EACH holiday — a total of 170 meals! Thanksgiving Meats will be collected through Sunday, November 14. Christmas Meats will be collected November 18 through Sunday, December 12.
All food donations may be brought to the church before or after worship services or to the church office, Monday-Thursday, 9am-3pm. Meats will be stored in our freezers.
Please note, we cannot accept food items that are past their expiration dates or in glass containers.
Like last year, we have modified how we handle our program.
- Donations of holiday meats and other nonperishable foods will be accepted before or after worship services and at the office. No sign-up is necessary.
- In-person volunteers for sorting and packing will not be possible.
- Distribution of our Holiday Food Baskets to the families’ homes will be handled by our ministry partners — agency representatives and their offices.
We are grateful for every food donation received, and we ask God’s blessings for these families we will be serving. For more information, please contact Johnice or Jim at foodministry@tvlc.org.
