Our Lenten services feature the beautiful Holden Evening Prayer Service as well as a series of monologues. In the monologues, you’ll hear from six biblical figures. Peter’s mother-in-law, Mary Magdalene, Thomas, Martha, Lazarus, and the paralytic tell about the unique encounters each had with Jesus. In many cases Jesus heals them. Lazarus is literally raised from the dead. In others, Jesus teaches.
The author draws extensively on biblical material, but for some little material is available. For those figures, educated imagining is used. It is based on what we know about biblical lands, customs, and people.
Hearing the characters talk to us in today’s vernacular, brings the characters to life and may help us imagine what it was like for ordinary people who had extraordinary interactions with Jesus.
Please join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm or any time later on your schedule.
